Ms. Christine “Tina” Crossland is a Senior Social Science Analyst in the Office of Violence and Victimization Prevention, situated in the Office of Research, Evaluation, Forensics, and Technology at the National Institute of Justice (NIJ)—the research and evaluation arm of the U.S. Department of Justice. She has been working on gender-based violence issues for more than 25 years. Tina collaborates with stakeholders from academia, government agencies, industry, public safety and health organizations, and professional societies to coordinate a comprehensive and expanded research agenda on violence and victimization, including directing the NIJ’s Violence Against Women and Family Violence Research and Evaluation Program. She also has supported other NIJ programs like the W.E.B. Du Bois Program of Research on Reducing Racial and Ethnic Disparities in the Justice System and the National Missing and Unidentified Persons System Program, also known as NamUs, and NIJ’s tribal crime, justice, and safety portfolio. She aims to develop a roadmap that recommends specific, actionable, feasible, and viable steps in practice, policy, and research to effectively advance efforts to address public health and safety issues impacting all communities, wherever possible.
